Siyi (Dylan) Gu is a fifth year student of Architectural Engineering at the Pennsylvania State University. He will graduate in May, 2019 with an Integrated Bachelor/ Master degree in Architectural Engineering Mechanical Option, along with two minors in Architecture Study and Residential Construction.

Siyi is an active member of several organizations on Student Society of Architectural Engineering (SSAE), American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air Conditioning Engineering (ASHRAE), United State Green Building Council (USGBC) of the Penn State Chapter. Siyi has passed his LEED Green Associate exam, as well as the Fundamental Engineer (FE) Exam, and will gain his EIT status upon graduation. He’s looking to work in building industry gain the knowledge and practical experience as a mechanical engineer.

Siyi has three internships with three different companies internationally during previous summers. The first internship, he worked for China first construction Co. with construction manager on site in Shanghai. Then, he interned as mechanical designer in DLR group in Washington D.C. and Smith Group in Detroit, both are integrated architectural engineering firms. He has worked on different tasks on building mechanical systems which helped him understand the building mechanical system better. At the same time, the internship experience gave him the opportunities to understand the building industry and have able to work and coordinate with people in all different disciplines.

Siyi participated in the study abroad program in Rome, Italy, in which he traveled around Italy and experienced different cultures.  The experience in Italy gave him the further understanding of the relationship between Architecture and Engineering. During his spare time, he loves to play Tennis, Squash, and go Bowling. He also enjoys travel and good food, as well as meeting new people and making friends with everybody.
